Boris Johnson ditches plans for better spaces

“Boris Johnson has performed a u-turn on his election promise to transform London’s public places in the car-free zones.

His latest environmental manifesto makes no mention of the plan to improve over 100 of London’s most important spacers, including Parliament Square, Tottenham Hale, Victoria Embankment and Woolwich Town Centre. Instead the new manifesto contains a general pledge to ‘nuture and protect the public spaces which bind us together’

Jenny Jones, Green Party London Assembly Member condemed the Mayor’s move and said that improving public spaces would increase the quality of life for everyone living in London’.
