Our “Connect2 and Greenway Design” guide recommends at-grade (road level) crossings for urban greenways. Where a route uses exisiting (sic) infrastructure such as an old railway line access points to the road above should give the option of using the underpass or crossing at road level. Instances where this cannot be achieved are under-passes beneath railway lines, though usually these will be short, straight and not involve passing out of sight lines from either side”
