At last, some backbone from the police who have to deal with the aftermath of all these dangerous motorists:
From the Press Association today:
“Julie Spence, head of Cambridgeshire police, also rejected claims that officers should spend more time catching “real criminals”.
She said police would “no more ignore” dangerous drivers than “robbers, burglars and rapists”.
“The chances are that the driver behind you or next to you in a traffic queue is uninsured, has something dangerously wrong with their vehicle, is using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt – or is even guilty of a combination of all of these,” she said.
“That may sound like an exaggeration. It isn’t.”
She added: “There remains a widespread and misguided belief that police pick on motorists because they are ‘easy targets’ and that we would be ‘better spending our time on catching real criminals’.
“Have they considered that driving without insurance might leave others seriously injured or a family without a breadwinner and with no hope of adequate compensation?”
It’s not just car insurance that some of these tight-fisted lowlife motorist scum don’t pay, it is their road tax.
“Millions of pounds are being lost each month because some motorists refuse to pay and that means the rest of us have to pick up the tab” said a website about the Government cracking down on tax dodging motorists.
Motorists are worse than burglars in that they kill people on a regular basis.
