ALERT TO ALL CYCLISTS: Tower Bridge to turn Gold at 10pm tonight 1 Aug

FIRST TIME IN HISTORY!

Well, I have decided to go up there and experience this piece of history. I am at a cafe near London Bridge killing a bit of time. As my boyfriend (we are back together now) lives near here, I have a place to stay so I am very lucky. It is not 9pm.

Trust me to forget my bloody charger on a history making day! However, my friend has a computer so hopefully I will bash out something on my blog before my own PC goes kaput.

Had to barge my way into London Bridge station this evening. Commuters all coming back, you know, the non cycling types, It is a bit like a maze at London Bridge, but just about managed to find my way out of it.

I have some extra batteries in case my mobile dies. This will make up for my failings with my laptop charger.

I went past Bike For All in Tooley Street (all closed). I would have liked to have brought my bike along for the occasion but South Eastern trains have BANNED non fold up bikes.

Hardly any cyclist about. Looks like that mostly the Twitterati cyclists know about the *secret* 10pm Golden Light Up Night at Tower Bridge tonight. Maybe it won’t be very busy and I will get an excellent view!

One hour to go! Hope there will be a good cyclist turn out.

I took this at the Opening Ceremony

London 2012

I’m so disallusioned with the Olympics that I’ve pulled out of being a volunteer.

The Olympic Handover – Let the Farce Begin

Well, it has already begun, as it is raining already (despite sunny weather being forecast).  I was planning to wear Copenhagenchic (well, Londonurbanchic) and had to re adjust because of the rain. Looks like I will be wearing That Raincoat for the first time. Should be fun and shocking!.

I am off to the Olympic Handover in London.  I am getting excited about it even though it is a money making-contrived-media-frenzy and brings out the cheesiest celebrities who have absolutely nothing to do with sport and probably cannot sing.  I just hope it does improve East London and I will be keeping an eye on this. We can only hope but I don’t think we can match China, no matter what Boris says.

I am going to keep a London 2012 scrapbook. Sad, but it has to be done!

I had a good laugh

I see the London2012 Olympics advertising team have created a globe with a massive Thames in the middle to try and woo (trick?) visitors into crime ridden Stratford.

And they have made it bright blue (ok, maybe it is chlorine?!) Why don’t they actually have a look at that sticky brown sludge by the Greenway cyclepath which is by Olympic Site and see what it really looks like?  It’s stuffed with trolleys and black bags. And the area stinks! I can’t identify with this silly Globe thing at all.

They’re trying to con our tourists they are! Poor sods. What are they letting themselves in for?
